Can I check out books from Archives and Special Collections?

Answer

Typically, books which are a part of our University Archives and Special collections can only be viewed in person in the archive, not checked out.

There are several ways books become part of a special collection. Sometimes the book is rare or unique in some way. Some books are part of larger special collection of items of images, text and other materials. Books that are part of this special collections provide context into the formation of the collection and how each item relates to the collection. Like special collections, these books do not circulate.

To view or learn more about rare books, contact the department at archives@csudh.edu, (310) 243-3895, or on the 5th floor south wing of the library.
