To use the text-to-speech (TTS) feature on a Kindle device, you can try the following steps: 

  1. Open the book you want to read 
  2. Tap the top of the screen to open the menu 
  3. Tap the three vertical dots (...) to access Settings 
  4. Select Accessibility 
  5. Choose VoiceView Screen Reader or Text-to-Speech feature, depending on your Kindle model 
  6. Once enabled, you can start and stop narration by pressing and holding the Play/Pause button 

You can also customize the TTS settings, such as: 

  • Reading speed: Tap the Narration Speed icon to increase or decrease the reading speed 
  • Tone and voice: Choose variations in your character's speech to customize it according to that character's style and persona 

You can listen to the audio by attaching headphones or through an external speaker of your kindle device. To start TTS from a specific point in the text, you can long press a word to open the quick actions menu, then tap Play.
